Petition to Replace Gwenview with Nomacs as Default for Both MX19 and MX21
Re: Petition to Replace Gwenview with Nomacs as Default for Both MX19 and MX21
Can anyone suggest a simple way for me to use nomacs on MX-21 as it has a number of image enhancement features that I really need. I'm not that familiar with compiling source code.

If it is not installed, use MX Package Installer, and it is in the stable repo tab.

If you want to install Nomacs on MX-21 then fine. It's what I use.
Just be aware of the reasons it was not made the default for MX-21:
1) If you use the shortcut keys, it will overwrite the file without giving a warning.
2) It has not been updated in quite a while.
I don't use the shortcut keys, so it's not an issue for me. I keep looking, but can't find another image viewer that has all the features that I want.

Ah yeah.. I remember now.
I wrote this in my note files to do after installing:
These are the two steps needed that will keep Nomacs from silently modifying an image file:
Edit - Settings - Advanced - de-select "Save Exif Orientation"
Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts - expand "Shortcuts" - remove the six "Star Rating" shortcut keys (0-5)
Set up to open as default for images
Of course YMMV.

Thanks, I do see it in the Stable Repo. I'm not sure what I did, but it appeared in the Synaptic Package Manager prior to install. I don't generally use the shortcut keys, except Crtl-Z and K.
