Hello,
Let's wait and see. When the final version of MX 21 is released, you will see that this ranking will change. Distrowatch only reflects people's curiosity.

For some users, even beginners..... the documentation, wiki, and depth of forums is enough though. The same could be said about distros like Slack or Gentoo as well.figueroa wrote: Tue Sep 21, 2021 11:04 pm There isn't much about anything that is Arch-based (except documentation and depth of forums) that is user friendly or beginner friendly.
With distros like that can be much easier to build a good foundation of knowledge.... or fail miserably at using the distro long term.
It also can help fuel curiosity, experimenting, and learning.... or cause complete and utter frustration too.
End of response to figueroa, rest is me just rambling

I said it in my first post, good for them, for this distro getting some attention.... means more attention for Linux in general.
Lots of distros out there need attention and support, really good ones too.
We don't have to personally like using a distro to wish them well, friendly competition and critique is one thing, but no reason to not be happy with their success.
People put in a lot of work no matter what distro it is, and no distro is what it is because of clicks on Distrowatch, not even MX.

Agree with Swamp Rabbit.
I have many distros on my pc, and I see the pros and cons of each. I would never begrudge a distro their recognition.

i have had endeavor installed as one of my systems for about 6 months now...
i wanted to try an arch distro because i had never used one before ... you know .. learn about different package management and stuff ... i tried manjaro, arcolinux and garuda before i settled on EOS ... i liked their forum better than the others is the main reason ...oh ... and the fact that i manged to break garuda and manjaro within 10 days of installing them ..... i haven't managed to break EOS yet and it has given me a good idea of the way arch works .... i still feel more at home with MX and debian but endeavor is a nice group of helpful people .... i also like their forum software and the ability to post massive pictures

Yes, this was the attraction of seeing a distro getting attention. Distros are fading off for some reason, hanging on with old fans. Endeavour's path has similarities with MX.SwampRabbit wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:02 am I said it in my first post, good for them, for this distro getting some attention.... means more attention for Linux in general.

Did a closer look at Endeavour. I can see why many are taking an interest. Besides being based on the well-known Arch, it is designed for newer users interested also to add things on their own. Nicely presented with a clear-cut installer and different options. Good chance to be #1 on DistroWatch in a few months. Actually, nice to have both MX and one Arch-based distro on the top.
