Do you like MMO's? Do you like old, clasic MMO's, like they used to be? They were hard, no hand holding but addicting!
There is this Everquest emulator project, legal, there are several, but the one I'm talking about is: Everquest TAKP:
https://www.takproject.net/
Game is free, frozen in time at 4th Everquest expansion, no pay for win, no micro-transactions, old graphic, but nice place to chill out some free time ;-) Here are two videos:

You can play single, in group, multiboxing if you wish (which works great because of low population) ... And community is very friendly. (completely different than EQ P99 which is more populated but also toxic at higher levels)
There are 3 different ways / guides, how to install it on Linux. (game, because of it's age uses some 32bit vulkan drivers)
First you create forum account, then (one or more) game accounts.
http://wiki.takp.info/index.php?title=Getting_Started
Then you just run this script and it will DL game for you and set it up for you:
http://wiki.takp.info/index.php?title=G ... Linux_(v2)
I got it to work on Manjaro, (with auto script) but I can't get it to work on MX. I'm more familiar with MX and with MX I can have installable ISO with game already on it. There is also manual process in the upper link, where you have step by step process, how to set the game on Linux, but my Wine and Linux knowledge is just too sub par, for something like this, to result in success.
There is also older (manual) guide to get it working on Linux:
http://wiki.takp.info/index.php?title=G ... d_on_Linux
I tried all three ways, new auto, new manual and old way, and none result in working game on MX.
Is there somewhere some brave and knowledgeable gammer, who would try to get this game working on MX? You may get hook up and start playing it :) If yes, would you mind sharing steps, versions of libraries, or better yet distributable ISO snapshot. Maybe EQ TAKP MX respin ;-)
Anyway, I would really like to have it running on MX, (the only reason I have Manjaro is this game) and maybe some of you can figure it out, how to?
Challenge for Linux pro gammers :)

"Not working" doesn't tell us very much. What do you get when you run the emulator from a terminal and try to load the game? Is there anything in your log files that might provide a clue? Can you post your Quick System Info so we even know what version of MX you have, among other things that may be helpful? Does the game try to load then crash? Give you an error message? What happens?I tried all three ways, new auto, new manual and old way, and none result in working game on MX.
Also the website link you gave has a button marked "Forums" which might give you better help about getting their software to run on Debian.
Please read the Forum Rules, How To Ask For Help, How to Break Your System and Don't Break Debian. Always include your full Quick System Info (QSI) with each and every new help request.

Thanks Jay. It wasn't my intention, at this time, to try to troubleshoot. Maybe some time in the future. I was hoping some gamer would like to try to install the game, it is interesting, addicting, hard, no hand holding and completely free. :)JayM wrote: Thu Jun 10, 2021 10:21 pm "Not working" doesn't tell us very much. I asked on their forum. The player that runs it on Linux has Arch. Didn't find anyone that runs it on Debian. I tried to install it on Ubuntu and some other Debian distro, but with no success either. (Can't recall all the problems and obstacles I had. Mostly wine complained something was wrong but log (or debug?) was not recorded or terminal would simply crash/close without any error msg)
Since I don't know how to deal with wine, don't know how to set up different wine profiles etc... I suspect, problem is in my lack of Linux and Wine knowledge, and some experienced Linux gamer would probably have no problems getting this game run on MX. And the enjoy completely free MMO ;-)

Found it I think, rename attached file: chtrt5650.txt into: chtrt5650.conf and copy it to this location:
/usr/share/alsa/ucm/
Worked for me at that time, but your sound card hardware may be different...
