Warpinator -- SOLVED  [Solved]

#1 Post by wayne1937 »

Trying to install Warpinator. Used Redit download site. 1st try: needed dependencies ( gir1.2 ) and (xapp-1.0). Successfully installed theses dependencies.
Rebooted. Tried install and received same notification: needed dependencies (gir1.2) and (xapp-1.0) However, each time the notification on needed dependencies is given, the notification also noted(>=1.6.0). I tried to install xapp-i.6.0, but informed xapp-1.0 is the latest version. I don't have a clue how to solve this problem so that Warpinator is installed.

Here we go again.

Before just following random 3rd party instructions/download sites Did you search:

1. this forum
2. all the tabs in MXPI?

Warpinator is in the MX Test repo (so MX Package Installer > MX Test repo tab)

Sorry for sounding impatient.

In the past 2 days, there have been a few posters who really should have searched the forum for information about various packages/applications first, because answers about their availability or lack thereof were all readily available searchable.

In any case, my post does set out the recommended modus operandi for users of MX.

Don't just blindly download and install stuff from outside without checking the forum and repos first. Often those instructions/packages:

1. might be for Ubuntu instead of Debian distros
2. if for Debian, they might or might not be for the correct debian release.
