Request package upgrade for Gnucash

#1 Post by reidun »

Hi, Would it be possible to upgrade the Gnucash package in the repositories? It is version 2.6 in the main repository, and 3.10 in the test repository, but version 4.4 is available for download on the gnucash website. Would be so nice to just upgrade, instead of reinstalling. If there is any reason this is not practical, would appreciate your comments. Thank you!

To request new or updated software packages be added to the MX Repositories, please read these instructions first, then post your request in the appropriate Package Requests/Status subforum for your version of MX: 19, 17/18 or 15/16.
Please read the Forum Rules, How To Ask For Help, How to Break Your System and Don't Break Debian. Always include your full Quick System Info (QSI) with each and every new help request.

Can you also direct me to where I could find out what version of GnuCash is available in the repositories for the latest MX19? I am still running 18.3 on this machine, and thinking maybe it's time to upgrade. Thank you very much!

GnuCash is also a very complex build, and bugs can have dire consequences, so I prefer to backport upstream Debian versions only.

We can see on repology that Debian still has 4.2 upstream, not 4.4.

4.2 may be backportable to MX 18.3, but I lack the time to do so. I triaged it to MX 19 only.

Flatpak has 4.4 and is available in our MX Package Installer.

Thank you! Installed it and this will be my solution until I get around to upgrading to MX19.
