I have backported 4 of 6 build dependencies already, but running into issues with the 5th right now. Won’t know about the runtime dependencies until I get it built first.joejac wrote: Sat Oct 31, 2020 6:06 pm Thanks for the updates to everybody.
I can see is going to take some time to have it working.
I will wait.
Thank you for your efforts.

Re: MX-19 Repository: The Cherrytree Thread
Hello, is there any news on this?
Y found these links:
1. https://launchpad.net/~giuspen/+archive ... /+packages
2. https://launchpad.net/~giuspen/+archive ... _amd64.deb
I wonder if I can try to install: cherrytree_0.99.19-2_amd64.deb or it is not advisable.
Thank you

They will not work (as I posted above) on 'buster' based Debian derivatives.
But, feel free to try and prove me wrong,

You'll have to stick with the 0.39.4 series provided by MX/antiX (Debian does not even provide any cherrytree debs for buster).
cherrytree 0.99 series will come with MX/antiX 21 (Debian bullseye) and not sooner.

Re: MX-19 Repository: The Cherrytree Thread
No change since my last post two weeks ago, there is no change because the status is the same.
If I can get this thing to work without destroying users' systems in the process, I will update this thread.
Right now the dependencies required to build and run this for Debian Buster (stable) or any distro based off it is not fairing well. I have some done, but not all, and their stability is not fully known.
As anticapitalista has stated, the newest branch of Cherrytree is not developed to run on any version of Debian older than Debian 11 Bullseye (which is not released because it is not stable). The only reason it can run on Buntu, Mint, etc, etc is because they are not based on Debian Buster (stable), they are based on the unstable testing version of Debian. The developer of Cherrytree chose to put everyone in this situation, they had their reasons... it does not good to question it as it isn't going to change. The most we can hope for at this point is possibly getting it to build and run on Buster... that or they release a flatpak or appimage.
Debian is now building this for Debian 11 Bullseye, I have seen nothing on a potential backport as Debian is in the same position as us... it may or may not be possible at all... ever.

Re: MX-19 Repository: The Cherrytree Thread
Hello,
Finally the developer created the Flatpak, I already installed using the MX Installer, I will test it these days but on the surface it seems to be working fine.
Unfortunately it consumed 1,2GB of my sparse SSD to run a small program.
Hope in the future it will run from standard MX repos.

Re: MX-19 Repository: The Cherrytree Thread
Hello,
I had to reinstall MX Linux 19, so I decided not to install Flatpak. I prefer AppImages packages, but Cherrytree does not have an Appimage, and I do not know how to pack one, I tried to follow Appimage documentation and it is beyond my skills. Is there any news on the availability of 0.99 for the standard repos?
Thanks and regards
