MX 19 Repository: The Deadbeef Thread

#1 Post by Stevo »

We have the current 1.8.2 version of Deadbeef Music Player in the main repository.

At the same time, we added five plugins for the GTK+ 3 interface (you won't see them when running the GTK+ 2 UI), ported over from deb-multimedia, to our test repos. They can easily be installed using the test repo tab in MX Package Installer and searching for "deadbeef". They include:

A VU meter
A spectrogram
A musical spectrum analyzer
A ratings plugin
An infobar with lyrics and other track information.

They work fine for me, so we just need a few more positive reviews to move them to main. You have to put Deadbeef into design mode to add them.

Ported one more from DMO to the test repos, called "ddb-waveform-seekbar-plugin".

Testers needed!

I don't see VU meters.
I clicked all the Deadbeef options in MX Test Repo in Simple Package installer

I see deadbeef-vu-meter in Synaptic

But where is it in Deadbeef preferences -> plugins

Open Edit > Preferences, then click the little arrow at the right end of the tabs to get to the Plugins tab.

Sorry, misunderstood your question. It seems to be absent from all versions

https://packages.debian.org/search?suit ... f-vu-meter

I don't even see it in Synaptic today.

Debian doesn't touch any deadbeef packages at all, to be honest.

The plugins in Preferences are not always in alphabetical order. Here it appears between Spectrogram and Stereo Widener. :cat:
You have to use Design Mode to add it to the graphical interface. Design Mode takes a bit to figure out but is powerful and rewarding.
