[solved]Is it possible upgrade from RC1 to final release?

#1 Post by leslie1017 »

Just realize the MX KDE is officailly released, but I'm still using RC1 and didn't receive any notification that upgrade from RC1 to final is available for me.
I'm using a mirror repo of MX which is faster from my place, should I switch back to main MX KDE repo to get this upgrade?

Click the Migration link in the board announcements near the top of the forum. It will tell you all you want to know.

Migration link says:
"The upgrade will take place automatically through the standard upgrade process. When the process is completed, the “RC1” in the version name will disappear."
This "standard upgrade process" didn't take place in my system, did I miss any setting? any way to manually trigger this upgrade?

Right-click on the updater icon and check for updates. If there aren't any you may be using a broken repo mirror and need to select a different one in MX Repo Manager, then check for updates again. If that doesn't work please post your Quick System Info.

Faster may not mean most fully or frequently-synced.

I usually choose amongst the mirrors that I know are reliable, whether or not it's the fastest.

Example:
Milan, Italy
the Hong Kong mirrors
MX Utah
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Did you check 'Distro' in the quick system info? If it says "MX-19.2_KDE_x64" and not "MX-19.2_KDE-RC1_x64", then you're already using the final release. (It just wasn't announced with lots of firework)

I suggest you adding highlight "official" mx repo in repo select tool.

If this is solved to your satisfaction, could you please edit your original post #1 at the very top of the topic by clicking the pencil tip icon, the one circled in red in my screenshot image below (yours won't have the red circle)

and add [SOLVED] at the front of the subject? This will make it easier for others when they search the forum looking for a solution to the same problem. Thanks.

I think it was the upgrade of mx-system to 20.08.01
