Re: MX crystal ball menu button - version 0.2

#21 Post by asqwerth »

Version 1 with the smaller logo was better, except for the pixelation. The logo was not obscured by the reflection spot.

Maybe go back to those proportions?

Thanks for your contribution!

OK. I see that the smaller logo seemed to look better. I'll work on that. But I don't think I should get rid of the reflection spot. That spot is what makes the circle look spherical, isn't it? But then again, I may find other ways to draw spheres. There must be some tutorial out there.... :D

Version 0.3 should be available..... within the week. :p

Have a nice week, you people!

I think the reflection is fine for the darker versions, maybe just tone it down a bit for the lighter ones.

I'm going to use this tutorial for the next sphere(s):

Looks challenging!! But it will have to be next weekend, though. Frantic week ahead. But I've been learning a lot about Gimp making these spheres! ;)

Your suggestions for my MX glass ball button, please :D

#25 Post by pilpintu »

Howdy!

I have been working on a glassball-like menu button for MX, and I intend to make it more professional-looking by following a YouTube tutorial. Here's my first attempt to follow the instructions, but I'd like to hear what you think of this draft before I share my work. Would you like a smaller logo? Not so round? Not so flat? Less lighting? More lighting? You let me know and I might make several versions to meet everyone's tastes. Thank you!

I like it a lot, take the opacity down on the reflection areas and I think it will be great.

Subtle but obvious, not annoying is what you should shoot for ;)

It looks pretty good. But it's too big for me to say. I think the reflection over the X may be too much and look like a white mark. Can you post it in the size to be used on the panel?

Nice! I agree with Swamp Rabbit's suggestion to make the big reflection spot slightly more translucent.

Maybe also make the logo a tiny bit smaller? Say by 3 to 4%?

MX color sphere icons (again!) XD

#30 Post by pilpintu »

Hello everyone! Hola a todos!

I apologize for posting this for a second time, but I have just realized that - for some stupid reason - the download link for these icons was broken. I must have removed the original file by accident.

So, that's it. I will continue my work on my transparent MX spherical menu button very soon.

Have a nice day... and week.... and month... and year... ;)
