XFCE GUI screensaver cannot be deactivated

#1 Post by munting »

Hello,
as I described it here viewtopic.php?p=590674#p590674 there is no way to deactivate the XFCE screensaver from GUI application.
I can enable it from GUI bot not deactivate.

In XFCE enery settings Display power management is already off.

Code: Select all

xdg-screensaver status
=> enabled
Disable screensaver:

Code: Select all

xdg-screensaver suspend 0x14f
xdg-screensaver status
=> disabled
Enable it from GUI and test again:

Code: Select all

xdg-screensaver status
=> enabled
Disable it from GUI:

Code: Select all

xdg-screensaver status
=> enabled
:confused:

Have you tried to disable the screensaver that is built into Xfce Power Manager?

Settings Manager > Power Manager > Display tab > uncheck Handle display power management and set Blank after to "Never" (slider to the left).

This setting is a little confusing.
Note to self and others: SysVinit is a good option. However if you run into problems try with systemd first. This applies to AppImages, Flatpaks, GitHub packages and even some Debian packages.

Yes this are my settings:

I currently uninstalled the xscreensaver package because I didn't know how to help myself differently.

xscreensaver isn't installed by default in MX-19. It has its own GUI settings.

I also disabled it in its own screen saver settings. But it is also reactivated via the power management, but not deactivated.

Is there a way to stop power off / lost signal on HDMI, without interaction for a few minutes and with uninstalled screensaver?

Right click on th3e4 power icon in the panel and put a check in Presentation Mode.
I am command line illiterate. :confused: I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list. :mad:
