updating firmware-b43-installer

#1 Post by galaxysurfer »

Hi,

I keep getting call to update this dpkg. The problem is that the host server won't connect. When it tries to connect to http://www.lwfinger.com/b43-firmware/br ... 38.tar.bz2 it times out. Is there a way to temp disable this call or to fix the link since hosting link is down.

Quick System info please. See the link in my signature.
Please read the Forum Rules, How To Ask For Help, How to Break Your System and Don't Break Debian. Always include your full Quick System Info (QSI) with each and every new help request.

I just checked that link and it works.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

If you don't have any Broadcom networking hardware show in your QSI, just remove the package. We include it by default to cover that hardware.

Maybe the OP can't access that download because the US blocked it because of their location? Not that I'm saying that's stupid, as if someone could get incredible security secrets from a firmware download that they couldn't also get from open source or through TOR or a proxy....but that's stooooooooopid.

I'm in Canada. So I just did a location switcheroo with my vpn & problem solved. Should have figured it might be blocked due to the current times.
