Do you know where they hide their source code?hkjz wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2020 8:28 am https://www.anaconda.com/distribution/
Hello,
can i ask to add Anaconda to MX Repository Package,
thank you
That link you provided only has installer packages from what I can see.
They say it’s open source, we need that to package it, unless we just provide a routine to the installer.

Re: Package Request : anaconda
i wrote them, lets see
Re: Package Request : anaconda
The Arch PKGBUILD has some links for the installer that they use to provide the source:
https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/ ... h=anaconda
However, this is a large package, and it may not make sense in terms of labor and repo space to provide for just one user, especially when it's already providing an installer.

i just install MX as new again, made the snapshot after some tweeks,
now is time to try to install Anaconda sucessfully again,
====================================
this is the link which You provided:
https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/?h=anaconda
The Tree section shows us list of links like this, with the code behind each link
Code: Select all
Mode Name Size
-rw-r--r-- .SRCINFO 627 logstatsplain
-rw-r--r-- .gitignore 43 logstatsplain
-rw-r--r-- PKGBUILD 1233 logstatsplain
-rw-r--r-- anaconda.install 219 logstatsplain
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install xyz
if i would even once went trough the process like that - i would know what to do, but i have had not yet.
how i suppose to install anaconda based on those files?
Thank you!
Re: Package Request : anaconda
Hello Stevo, some time passed by, i dont want to bother You to much,
however i would like to redo Anaconda request.
Is that possible, that Anaconda would come to the official Stable Repository of MX?
Head on the Stick gave some answer how to install this Anaconda
viewtopic.php?f=104&t=58202&p=576218&hi ... da#p576218
based on
https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/?h=anaconda
but as he mentioned earlier, it could be tricky for somebody who never done that before,
and i never did! However i don't mind learning new stuff neither, but his explanation was not clear enough.

But becasue of that - i will spend some hours to crack this things, lets see with what success :)
Thank you
Have a Happy Day!

Long Live MX!

hi there Stevo, hi hkjz, good day SwampRabbit .... this is the most important thread here... i am so glad that you were discussing this!'
first of all: all the best to you - i wish erverone a great and sucessful new year.
well i am eagerly waiting for the option to run Anaconda on MX Linux.
it is not in Synaptic nor on the package-installer:
see the other thread: viewtopic.php?t=45785

love to hear from you

update: tried to install all anaconda-things according the official instruction - went the hard way - on terminal: see these docs: https://docs.anaconda.com/anaconda/install/linux/
a quick walktrough through the steps ended up in fully-fledged installation of Anaconda3
next steps are shown here: https://docs.anaconda.com/anaconda/user ... g-started/
Linux: Open a terminal window and type anaconda-navigator.
voila - now Anaconda3 starts...
conclusio: all is fine now..
have a great day

Anaconda is running well on my system. The only issue is initially it takes over the path of the system Python and QT (i.e. the default Python and QT now will point to the Path assigned by Anaconda). You can read more about this (there is a solution also) here: https://tobanwiebe.com/blog/2016/09/ana ... hon-linux
All in all, after fixing that annoyance, anaconda is great and the chance for it to break the system is low. Besides, you can install timeshift from the repo and make a backup snapshot just in case.
