I'm moving my Web project stuff from my (soon to be retiring) WinXP box to my MX-Linux laptop.
Currently using
- Expression Web 4 as my wysiwyg editor.
- Sublime Text 3 and Notepad++ as code editors.
- PhotoImpact 10 as my image creation and manipulation program.
Yes I know its very old, but before this I used to use Bradsofts TopStyle Pro to edit my CSS (anyone remember that? !)
I need no server side coding, sql, php or asp, but I might need some JavaScript editing.
So looking at the MX repo's I can see the following are not there, Screem, Brackets or Visual code, so I've sorted out the following which should install straight out of the box so to speak.
(I looked at GIMP and I think it might be a tad overwhelming . . . also the learning Curve for eMAcs might be too . . .)
Code editors - Geany, Bluefish,
Wysiwyg - SeaMonkey
Image program = Inkscape
Do you have any different recommendations or suggestions ?
Any help appreciated.

Re: HTML/CSS editor and Image creation/manipulation program
I don't do much of either web or image editing but I do know there are some cross platform application(available on both windows and Linux) as well as some better Linux choices. You mentioned The Gimp, yes it's more of a whole photoshop replacement and maybe too much. There are apps like Mirage and Novacs(installed) that are capable of light editing. You already mentioned some great HTML editors. There are both text editors and full wysiwyg editors. That's the great thing about Linux, Choice! Take the time and find one that works for you. Have fun.
Re: HTML/CSS editor and Image creation/manipulation program
Visual Code and Brackets can be installed in MX--we just don't have them in the repo. I even think the first can be installed from the MX Package Installer. Notepadqq 1.4.8 much like Notepad++ by design, and is in our test repos.
We also have a plethora of image editors besides the already mentioned ones. Mypaint 2 or Krita from our test repo are fairly powerful without being as complex as the GIMP, though Krita is more for artistic creation than image editors.

Re: HTML/CSS editor and Image creation/manipulation program
Thank you all very much for your suggestions and advice.
I just have two questions.
- How do I uninstall programs installed using the MXPI cli (MXPI (su-to-root -x -c mx-packageinstaller) ?
- Is there any issues for a novice (me) installing things from the test repos ?
Thanks for your time
