One thing I'd like to clarify to the OP: when sitting on the Popular Apps tab, be sure to click the adjacent (stable?) tab and search it. It took me a few months to realize the difference between those two tabs. I thought popular apps had everything, or when I searched it was searching everything. Someone here finally pointed out that I should search the adjacent tab (and then I found everything I was looking for).richb wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 8:01 am MX Package Installer has popular apps, a test repo, a Debiam Backports repo and Flatpacks.

Just in case the OP still doesn't have enough information, these two links should answer the majority of questions in a matter of an hour of reading time.

Not to mention that a newer version of GNOME 3 can be installed and run in MX 19 than comes in Ubuntu 18.04, but it will be a generic install, and the user will have to customize and tweak it themselves. Installing gnome-tweak is a good start.
Remember that MX is an XFCE distro, and you probably won't get much help if you ask how to customize GMOME here. We know a bit about KDE, MATE, and Fluxbox, but not GNOME.
