Debian: apparently the OS of choice for mad scientists
Re: Debian: apparently the OS of choice for mad scientists
I don't get it. On this monitor I can't see what is on the 4 screens in the picture.

You should also be able to click on the thumbnail to see the original picture I uploaded, then right-ciick it and "Save Image As..." Once it's on your machine, you can open it with your favorite image viewer and zoom in on the screens.BV206 wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2019 4:12 pm I don't get it. Re: Debian: apparently the OS of choice for mad scientists
Well, mad scientists don't like spending a lot of time waiting for updates, windows to open, etc. They want to actually DO things, like take over the world...

Yes indeed. I'm not surprised that Rick uses Debian but I'm wondering why he's bothering with an NTFS partition and why he's not using a GUID partition table — msdos partition tables don't work with partitions that big. Or why the GRUB version is so old.
He seems to be booting with systemd though.

Which kernel is he running? I'm having trouble with my giant levers and DNA displays, I think the drivers are missing. Also, which command do I type to release the Super Soaker from the glass cabinet? I have a few plants that need watering.

I can click on the image (which goes to the original on the hosting site) then either "view image" in firefox or download it and look at it with nomacs but the original size/resolution of the image is such that I can't read the text and zooming just makes it the text blurry.Stevo wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2019 6:26 pm You should also be able to click on the thumbnail to see the original picture I uploaded, then right-ciick it and "Save Image As..." This is on a 17.3" 1600x900 106 dpi laptop display.
I don't know if this is normal or I have some problem.
I noticed that xfce desktop, lightdm and firefox all default to 96 dpi for some reason. I set lightdm and xfce Appearance to 106 dpi to match the actual display resolution so that documents are displayed as their actual size. Is it a bad idea to do that? (I discovered a long time ago that this doesn't work properly in Firefox).
Re: Debian: apparently the OS of choice for mad scientists
I can get an image that is readable but I did not get the point either. I guess you have to be a mad scientist to "get it".

I'm not familiar with Rick. Does he always look kind of confused, or just when he's using Linux?
