What fix must I apply such that my .png desktop thumbnails appear as images instead of blue boxes?

--What version of MX Linux?
--How are you putting the thumbnails on the desktop, and where are you taking them from?

For me it works to copy the image into the Desktop folder

Version 18 with all updates applied. It didn't always have this flaw as I recall. It doesn't matter how they got there. I can go into the 'Desktop' utility and mess with icons and get them to show properly, but upon every re-boot they all return to being blue .png boxes again.

Not totally understanding. To get an active application icon on the desktop I just drag it from Whisker menu.

Do they also appear as blue boxes in Thunar?

They show up correctly in Thunar.
