[SOLVED] Why Does my UE Boom2 sound crappy
[SOLVED] Why Does my UE Boom2 sound crappy
I have a UE Boom 2 connected to Bluetooth from my laptop and using either Clementine or Rythumbox, the played sound is terrible. It's a bit like tin cans and shortwave. When I play to my radio system from my laptop connected via Bluetooth, the sound is great, so what's wrong? Any idea's?

Hmmm--both those players are using gstreamer 1.0 codecs for playback. Do you have the same bad sound with a player that doesn't use gstreamer, such VLC, QMPlay2, mpv, or quite a few others? If not, maybe the gstreamer playback just needs some tweak to start sounding better.

The UE Boom2 has a built in equalizer you use a phone app to control. It may just be set full treble/no bass.

Re: Why Does my UE Boom2 sound crappy
Well, I finally found the problem. It appeared that the profiles did not match. The Profile in the "Bluetooth Devices" panel was set to Headset Head Unit (HSP/HFP) as with the Volume Control Configuration. Obviously it appears these settings should be set individually and the same otherwise the control would not work. The setting on both profiles should be set to "High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink)" in order to work correctly. Unfortunately, I could not find any information for this or the system did not appear to choose this by default. So now with this corrected, and the sound quality is very much better.
