WiFi Network Doesn't Connect [SOLVED] [Solved]

I'm able to perfectly run MX Linux with no performance issues (or app installation issues).

However, I'm not able to connect to the WiFi networks - even if those are visible. I've tried checking the "Allow all users to connect" option to try to resolve the issue - but that didn't help. Rebooted the PC & Restarted network-manager, it still does not work.

I'm currently utilizing USB Tethering in order to access the Internet. What else can I do to resolve the issue?

P.S: I'm able to access the wireless Internet while using Zorin, Ubuntu, and elementary. So, this isn't hardware-related for sure.

Welcome to the forum.

Without knowing more about your computer and especially its wifi card it's impossible to help you troubleshoot this problem. However, the MX Manual contains an extensive section on troubleshooting wifi issues so it would be the first place to look for help. The MX Wiki, linked near the top right of this forum, is another. A third resource would be to search the forum as there have been many topics about helping people with their wifi issues and someone else's solution may work for you.

To provide your computer info please run MX Tools/Quick System Info, then right-click paste into a reply. (Quick System Info automatically copies the information to the clipboard and formats it properly for the forum so all you have to do is paste it.)

Or in another distro open a terminal and run

then copy it and paste it in a reply, When you do please add [code] [/code] tags, the first one at the very beginning and the last at the very end of the pasted inxi data.

Yes, please do what JayM told and at least for now, keep the option "Allow all users to connect" unchecked. (Let only the top one checked "automatically connect ..."

Let me guess: It's a Dell and an Atheros Qualcomm device... ? :)

No, it's not a Dell. It's a WiFi adapter from D-Link which works fine without configuring anything on Windows (and other Linux distros).

As per the documentation, I also tried utilizing MX Network Assistant to install Ndiswrapper - to see if that helps. But, that didn't work either.

Generally, it's reported in forums that the driver rtl8192eu works better than rtl8xxxu, so , in a Terminal, one by one:

Since you used Ndis it must already be blacklisted, but you can also:

Meanwhile, you can also try the newest kernel 5.2.8 from the stable repo in MX Package Installer

P.S. Just by the way, although this is not related to the point, your graphics driver still looks the generic nouveau; you can install the appropriate Nvidia driver using the MX Tools easily..

The driver did the trick. I wonder why can't they just have it pre-installed (if it is considered better).

Btw, your code had a typo "modprope" - it's "b" instead of "p" as you're already aware (modprobe is the correct one). If you've edited it while I type this reply - you can ignore this.

And, yes, I shall install the NVIDIA drivers. I was concerned about fixing this issue first. So, I can peacefully install all of my essentials later.

Maybe distro-hopping will stop after using MX Linux (I can tell why). And, the community rocks - thanks again!

For extra info (for someone who reads and if it still doesn't work) these also can be done (from github):

Force RTL8192EU Driver to be active from boot.

Personally I had the same issue after dissasembling and upgrading Hp Pavilion G6 D. No matter what i did the wifi would stay blocked.

Wifi Soft Blocked. No
Wifi Hard Blocked Yes

The way i solved it was by unblocking all linux drivers pressing the a Dedicated Wifi button on key board on and off. This fixed by issue.

Also try taking out and re inserting Wifi PCIE slot
