Ark archive manager shows different mimetype because of extension similarity

#1 Post by abhidesh128 »

I have some archives with OpenType font files (.otf). But there is an issue with this file format, because it is associated with 2 mimetypes -
  • font/otf
  • application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula-template
I am used to quickly install fonts by clicking on the archive. But, I found that only if the extension is .ttf, the font file is opened in kfontview. If the extension is .otf, the file opens in LibreOffice, assuming it to be a formula-template. This issue does not occur if I extract that archive, but every time extracting the archive and later deleting it seems counter-intuitive to me because just one-click opening of the archive can do the task.

I tried changing file associations, but still those files are identified as formula-template, when opened in Ark. How can I solve this ?

I fiddled with settings and found that in 'Configure Ark' menu, there is an option to open items in default associated apps. This solved the issue.
