Terminal / Konsole output - text is partially cut off

#1 Post by dings »

MX 21.3 KDE x64

In Konsole and Yakuake the text output at the prompt is partially cut off. See in image e.g.
  • computer name is cut off
    see "speed/min/max:" or "Mem:"
When I copy / paste (e.g. "inxi -s") and move the cursor to the left the outputs do not match.

Any idea how I can repair this?

#2 Post by timkb4cq »

You have selected a proportionally spaced font for Konsole.
Terminals need monospaced fonts to work properly since they're emulating fixed spaced teletypes (it's why they're referred to as TTYs).
Select a font with "mono" in its name in Konsole's preferences menu and it'll be good again.

Dell Inspiron 15, AMD Ryzen 7 2700u (quad core). Sabrent 500GB nvme, Seagate 1TB

That was it. Thank you!

I went to Konsole menu --> "Settings" --> "Edit Current Profile" --> "Appearance" tab --> "Font - Choose" and selected a "mono" font.

(The first time I was there in settings. Maybe this has to do with the Papirus update problem I had, after which I switched to the Breeze theme, but a few things after that still were unusal.)
