Can't get past login - Nvidia Driver update [Solved]

what we are finding is that apparently for a while now a package has been missing but no one has actually noticed. nvidia-modprobe is missing for the 470 drivers in test and the 510 drivers in ahs. the 510 version has been sent up to the ahs repo, but 470 is still missing. I buzzed the guys to see what we can do about the 470 drivers.

the good news is for you is that your part should be supported by the 510 drivers. so you could potentially turn the ahs repo back on and try a full install of the nvidia drivers. just check to make sure nvidia-modprobe is present first (it is in salt-lake city repo).

Everything is back to normal! I got back on the 510 kernel and installed the 510 nVidia driver without issues (I can confirm that nvidia-modprobe is installed).
