Skype Flatpak Entry in Applications Menu

#1 Post by tb75252 »

I am using MX Linux 23 Xfce.

I successfully uninstalled Skype (the flatpak version) but when I do a search in Applications Menu it shows up as an entry. (It reads "Skype Flatpak") Of course, clicking on the entry's icon does not launch Skype...

I have tried every flatpak command that is known to me but I have not been able to get rid of the entry in the Applications Menu.

What can I do to get rid of the entry? Is there a file that I can modify? I see that I can hide the entry, but I would prefer removing it entirely.

Thanks.

sounds like a custom file maybe. look for a desktop file under ~/.local/share/applications

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

I found this file: com.skype.Client.desktop
Can I safely delete it?

yep. you can look inside it (its just a text file) and make sure the Name matches the menu entry you see, but likely you've found the culprit.

Yes, it look like that it was the right folder to cancel. Thanks for your help.
