[SOLVED] How To Change The Repository in AntiX?

#1 Post by Linux_Noob »

Hello,
When I tried to update my antiX system with

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
, I always get this error:

could not connect to mx-pkg.mirror.net.in:80 (no route to host)

My network connection is completely fine and the other debian repos update without any issues. Is the repo down? if yes, then how to change it?

Re: the mirror's status, assuming that MX Linux and antiX share many of the same repo mirroes, http://rsync-mxlinux.org/mirmon/packages.html. That one hasn't worked in over a week.

Re: changing mirrors, explore your menu and look for the Repo Manager. I can't tell you exactly where it is as I don't know which window manager you've chosen to use in antiX: it comes with several. Don't forget to run

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
in a terminal after changing mirrors.

(By the way, it would be helpful to know which version of antiX you downloaded, base, core, net or full. My answer assumes that you're using the full version.)

Re: MX Base, do me a favor and mention that in any future help requests as Base lacks many of the features of Full. It'll be good to know.

I don't know about antiX repo mirrors but many of the MX ones have been having problems since around March of this year. I suspect it's due to Covid-19 and many places that run the mirror servers have possibly laid off some of their IT staff and the remaining ones have to work from home, so there's less server maintenance being done. They're probably prioritizing their own servers over the ones that mirror Linux distros and their repos.
