Sorry, my bad. Since I can't move it as a regular user, I suppose that will have to be done by an Admin.

I just stumbled upon the solution to my problem. It seems that you need to add the "Pulse Audio" plugin from the Panel > "Add New Items" to your Panel in order to get the volume control windows to pop up when using keyboard multimedia volume and playback controls.

ok, so for my rig, I have to have the following, all in alignment.

1) indicator-sound-switcher (mx repos) set to Built-in Audio -> Line out ( i have a sound system, so this is where that connects)

2) Volume Control

Not getting sound changes as well as no notifications. Did the upgrade to PulseAudio 1.4.5, but no change.
