I promise you CharlesV, I will follow your advice to the letter.
Nothing else. Just your advice on all points.
I will report back. It is the only way I have of saying thank you.
Will take me a while. xscreensaver was easy. And somehow I think I got it to suspend.
But I am sorting out the ...

Re: Intermittently I cannot select / click on items with pointer. not solved
Thanks to Charles V, I realized that xfce4-screensaver was the trigger, but not necessarly the cause. That left suspend as a possible cause. I am sorry but at this point I am unsure if suspend trying to activate on a 2nd logged in user was part of my issue. It may have been because switching to a ...

Re: Intermittantly I cannot select / click on items with pointer.
Well, I removed the screensaver.
Whole system went a bit nuts flashing screens when I removed the xfce screensaver.

I removed just the xfce4 screensaver.)
Plus my sloppy incorrect spelling of ...

Re: Intermittantly I cannot select / click on items with pointer.
Not that I have noticed.
I am using the screensaver and suspend.
I will immediately change that.
But.. I am working on something and suddenly I cannot click.
But.. This I cannot answer ... is there a 2nd screensaver in the alternate user tab.
I thank you for the tip and reply if it corrects ...

Intermittently I cannot select / click on items with pointer. not solved
I had a drive failure and had reload on another drive using mx 23.6 64bit iso off a ventoy disk.
Btrfs locked the failed drive ... great work and glad I used btrfs all these years.
Usually (always?) system correctly works on boot.
Then after some use I can point at an item but cannot click and get ...

Re: MX23 xfce horizontal panel won't autohide [Solved]
Second time in two years I had to rediscover this issue. MX 23.6 ... and this issue still exists.
Many thanks to msz1959 who said:

Re: How can I install MX-Linux entirely from a terminal? [Solved]
aptitude is the cli installer. Installed by default in Mx. Much the same function as synaptic.
I have managed for years with MX-Linux. I always have disabled the mx installer.
Never needed mx installer. Gui or otherwise.
Synaptic (gui) / Aptitude (cli)

Where to download deb files installed originally from live install?
I was trying to fix the vnstat occasional error on restart problem (MX23) with updates and I managed to break the string of pearls dependencies.
That is when I discovered that the MX23 deb files originally installed do not appear to be anywhere for download individually. Available downloads are ...
