Getting desktop text in English and what appears to be Arabic.

Went to System Locals and unchecked all but en.us-ISO-8859-1 which did not resolve the issue

How to I get to US English only ?

Thanks both. Yes, I have tried rebooting a number of times. Also, when trying to do an Update (20 available) the udpated screen crashes. Assume I will have to reinstall

When using the Package Installer I get a message that "only one software management tool is allowed to run at one time. Please close the other application running update manager, aptitude or synaptic first." Problem is that I am not running any other update manager, etc. and still get the same ...
