i recently doubled the ram on my machine (to a whopping 16gb!) and found it doesn't seem to use it, and will still glitch out (xruns/playback slow and glitchy after a while),

i've got 2 hdds on my studio
one ssd that came with the (refurbished) laptop, and a mechanical drive i bought later on that i swapped out the optical drive for

not really nerdy enough to know what hte reports mean, but there's quite a few "pre failure' and "old age" statuses, (and the temp doesn't ...

in terms of usability, I prefer the old full xfce setup (i liked being able to drag the window to the top of the screen to make it go full screen)
but, i think it's awesome that if i stop nitrogen and conky from loading on startup, i can get down to about 340mb ram usage.

is it possible that in qjackctl the displayed ms of latency is not accurate?

I've just tried a live stream with the periods/buffer set to (default) and frames at 128, it said the latency was down to 2.9ms, but it was definitely higher than that.
I tried it at 2 periods/buffer and (can't remember ...

Yeah I figured since it was xrunnning without maxing out the ram/cpu there was something weird going on.

Don't know why I didn't think of trying it with lower frames/buffers number earlier, oh well sorted now :)

I also tried with a rt kernel in case that helped a little but I found it made it ...

i tried the periods/buffer at 3 because I remember reading (i think in the manual?) that usb interfaces often prefer that, with no luck.

i tried 2 and it seemed to like it better, so i tried it with 1 period/buffer (listed as 'default") and i can get it ...

not quite sure what to do about xruns..


my recording laptop is a lenovo t440p 8gb ram running a behringer 404hd, and had a few questions about xruns

- if i can't hear them does it actually matter? (having xruns while recording)

- my understanding is they generally happened when the computer was ...
