After update I lost sound and external video

yesterday I received notice of updates so I updated all packages. After that, I noticed the sound and the external monitor stopped displaying.

How do I reset the sound settings and also the external video? Perhaps this will help to recover.
Or would it be better to upgrade to Kernel 6, and how does ...

Those should be all you need if you really want to try the 5.10 kernel. It couldn't hurt to install it and test it anyway as you still have your 5.6 kernel to boot from if 5.10 doesn't work for you. What I would do is in MX Pacckage Installer, Stable Repo, type "linux-" in the search field and ...
