I second what Charlie Brown wrote above about working with an (backup-ed) image of the partition.
Just to expand on the problem: chepakwak , so you can unlock the LUKS partition successfully, however you cannot mount it, right?

In that case, in the installer where you set up the partitions, find your encrypted /home partition in the listing (e.g. sda3, according to your post). Then right-click on that one and click Decrypt (or might be "open" - I'm just flying ...
