Worst case is, the drive is dying anyway, so you would need to replace it (buy a new one). But since you have saved your precious data now, you could also try and format ...

I second what Charlie Brown wrote above about working with an (backup-ed) image of the partition.

Just to expand on the problem: chepakwak , so you can unlock the LUKS partition successfully, however you cannot mount it, right?

What file system is sitting in that LUKS encrypted volume?

I guess that you already used an encrypted /home with MX 21?

In that case, in the installer where you set up the partitions, find your encrypted /home partition in the listing (e.g. sda3, according to your post). Then right-click on that one and click Decrypt (or might be "open" - I'm just flying ...
