Hello, well done

#1 Post by catania »

I installed your distro for the first time today and was very favorably impressed. The installer, which no distros seems to get right, worked flawlessly, even though I was installing to custom partitions. It was also well organized, which I greatly appreciated.

I continued to be impressed, once the distro launched. Again, the DE was well organized, in terms of ergonomics, utilities and applications. Every tweaking tool, I normally use, was already installed. My overall impression is that your distro is very well polished. This is important to me, as most of the distros I've tried seem "unfinished." In fact, it appears to be the most well thought out and executed distro, I've ever had the opportunity to try. The team that put MX together clearly knows what they are doing and just as importantly seems to care about it. You even got the "spelling" right.

May I please congratulate you on your fine work. :number1:

gcgdh, you join a solid base of fans to be sure and MX's continued and growing popularity is well deserved. I have tried (and used for extended periods some of them) many distros over the past decade or so and I can say that MX is one premier distro indeed.

Sehe ich genauso...... ;)

Welcome to the forum and thank you, too - though I'm not the "spokesman" :) .

Just don't forget to try "MX Snapshot" (after doing all customizations to your taste) : You'll like it "more and more" ;)

I see it the same way...... ;)
I used LM for a long time but somehow I didn't really get warm with it. I feel better at MX
I am particularly impressed by the existing MX tools. I think I found my standard Linux with MX.
Thanks to the creators .....

Since the developers are entirely a volunteer team, MX is a labor of love. We like to think that shows. :welcome:

Oh, yes...I'd have to say, "Well Done!" especially with the choice of an enhanced SysVInit over Systemd. Until recently I'd been a die-hard Ubuntu user, but began having doubts since shortly after the distro's development team decided event-driven init would be a better choice (it certainly isn't when such subsystems randomly crash, or hang during boot and shutdown nearly half of the time!)

I sincerely hope MX never uses Systemd by default; this init replacement is simply too unreliable, much like Upstart which preceded it.

I really like MX!
Former die-hard Ubuntu user. Had too many problems with that distro, most notably with Systemd.
I believe event-driven init is (and probably will continue to be) too unreliable for the desktop, and is best avoided.
MX Rocks! :number1:
