0.) Artificial intelligence installation from A-Z  [Solved]

For interesting topics. But remember this is a Linux Forum. Do not post offensive topics that are meant to cause trouble with other members or are derogatory towards people of different genders, race, color, minors (this includes nudity and sex), politics or religion. Let's try to keep peace among the community and for visitors.

No spam on this or any other forums please! If you post advertisements on these forums, your account may be deleted.

Do not copy and paste entire or even up to half of someone else's words or articles into posts. Post only a few sentences or a paragraph and make sure to include a link back to original words or article. Otherwise it's copyright infringement.

You can talk about other distros here, but no MX bashing. You can email the developers of MX if you just want to say you dislike or hate MX.

0.) Artificial intelligence installation from A-Z

#1 Post by leanLux »

Today I would like to start to setup a local AI from scratch
and would like to share with all of you the process in multiple parts
so that visitors will more likely find the part which interests them.

Part zero today is:
0.) "The benefits and flaws of AI helping you to install linux tools"
My experience is that the worst thing to do as a layman is to copy and paste cryptic prompts blindly into ones terminal.
Please feel free to share your thoughts in how you use AI best to help you with linux, and how to avoid it.

Part 1 in a net thread - linked right here - will be to
1.) install artificial intelligence on a laptop with a good graphic card:

@leanLux This is an FYI. Don't be surprised if this thread and others like it get closed and locked. Discussions of AI is fine.

Sounds like AI, or someone with very poor English grammar :exclamation:

Quotes from the OP, with my comments below:
...would like to share with all of you the process [sic]...
==> should be "processes" (plural)

...so that visitors...
==> "visitors" ???

...Part zero... Vs ...Part 1...
==> should be "0" (not "zero")

...how you use AI best to help you with linux, and how to avoid it....
==> Avoiding Linux, AI, or both???

...tell us your experiences...
===> Again, who is "us"?

You see,Siamhie :lion: , the joke is that I did write this post totally manually and merely discuss what people experience with AI because using it was detrimental to me and wasted an entire year of my life. :killcomputer:

So I felt the need to warn others about using AI for seeming solutions which only did shove the user from one frenzy into the next. :hamster: :tikiman:

Also, since I literally want to setup a private artificial environment in order to make life easier by it dealing with mundane tasks; and since I just bought the equipment mentioned above,
I thought with all your help I turn it into a comprehensive series for anyone to follow how I set up artificial intelligence step by step. :bighug:

I would consider this a Forum Rules violation from my standpoint as Forum Administrator. To be clear, not this statement but the resulting link to the content in the link.

Discussions on AI technology is fine.
Posting AI code, AI tutorials or using AI to comment is not.

Sorry, I can't see what this thread has to do with the topic of this forum section.
Wouldn't it make more sense to put it in "Chat, General," if at all?
I don't really see the explicit reference to MX Linux.

Pardon me for the interference

I’d like to clear up the confusion: My first comment wais 100% human-written, based on my personal experience working with AI tools and setting up systems from scratch. My goal is to build a helpful, step-by-step series for curious users—especially those burned by overly complex or misleading AI "solutions."

My earlier post related to artificial intelligence was removed. That experience is exactly what led me to restart this journey and frame the discussion around the potential pitfalls of using AI—not as advocacy, but as a critical reflection. The irony is that a post warning against over-reliance on AI tools is now being mistaken for being written by AI. I’m hoping we can untangle these misunderstandings together and focus on the actual topic: how humans can responsibly engage with AI without losing agency, clarity, or community trust.

I’ve seen some comments that misrepresent my intent and add little to the actual conversation. For example, operadude criticized my grammar and phrasing, suggesting the post was AI-generated due to imperfect language. Ironically, AI rarely makes spelling mistakes—it's often far too perfect. If anything, my imperfect English should be proof of my humanity.

He also objected to my use of the word "visitors", which I stand by—it refers to forum readers who might discover these posts later. And his insistence that “Part zero” must be written as “0” overlooks my logic: I reserved numbered entries (1, 2, 3...) for the actual instructional parts, while “Part zero” serves as a philosophical intro.

The real purpose of this thread is to:

Discuss how AI has both helped and hindered users setting up Linux systems.

Document a hands-on, human-led journey installing local AI tools from scratch.

Share what gear works best, what setups are effective, and what pitfalls to avoid.

If moderation is concerned, I’m open to feedback—but I urge everyone to read carefully before assuming intent. Let’s steer this thread back toward thoughtful, technical dialogue, not grammar policing or assumptions based on tone.

I am going to suggest here what years of experience in computers has shown and taught me... (And yes, this is my opinion!)

1) When experimenting, always have either a spare computer or a VM. ( ie NEVER use your primary machine, or a machine load that matters. )

2) Trust nothing - There is A LOT of information on the internet that is total BS and harmful, and while not all of it is meant to be... it can be for your particular machine / os version / install etc. Zero Trust is your friend here!

3) AI, is a complicated, complex learning system. (I shall repeat *learning* system). AI by design, is meant to take in data and then 'learn' to make assumptions. Bad data in... bad assumptions. Too much data that is taken in, the data begins to melt down into a pot of goo and again bad assumptions. There certainly are places that AI can help, but today, in this stage of it... you should be extremely cautious of what you use it for.

4) Like SO many things in life... there is *always* someone that knows better! And while some people may very well be experts in that particular subject - all things should be considered experimental and used accordingly until known and understood. Even the best, real knowledge when applied incorrectly or applied at the wrong moment can sometimes be harmful. In my experience... AI, 90% of the time has no understanding of *your situation* and as such can lead you happily down the wrong path.

and last ... (and yes, I know I sound like a broken record but ... ) Backup... Backup.. and then ... Backup again.
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

It is going to move to chat, because in installation, which is about installing MX itself, it should not belong.
