Cosmic Desktop for Linux OS

#1 Post by txm0523 »

Greetings Everyone,

A friend of mine told me about pop_os ( linux ) from System 76 and that they have a real cool desktop that's available. I was wondering if this Cosmic desktop is available for MX Linux OS or are their plans to introduce it in the near future.

Here is their link: https://system76.com/cosmic/
Thanks for any information.

Here's the link to their github page. https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

I have it running on an Arch install. Quite pleasant but conkies don't work well on it.

The conkies get displayed as an "always on top" window.

There was a bug report page that so far hasn't got anywhere.

The suggested fix in conky config (can't remember details right now) makes the conkies unmovable and positioned right smack in the middle of your screen no matter what you change your x and y coordinates to.

If you don't care about conkies though, it's a nice DE to play with. Especially if you like tiling DE/WM (I'm not, to be honest; I was just curious ).

I do think it is not 100% ready yet.

It's only in "Alpha" stage, not even a Beta. It actually works pretty well for an Alpha.

Once they have a Beta, maybe @Stevo and his team can put a build in MX test repo.
