MX Linux XFCE comes with the latest kernel and AHS support, along with the latest XFCE environment. So why not offer the same for KDE?

KDE 5.27 has unresolved bugs that the KDE team chose not to fix, instead recommending users move to KDE 6 or later. Please consider releasing a separate KDE ISO with the latest KDE version and kernel, like the XFCE AHS version.

And please don’t suggest doing it manually after installation—I tried that before. My Wi-Fi driver wasn’t recognized and had to be installed via a GitHub repo, which led to slow speeds and frequent disconnects.

XFCE AHS works well, but it feels outdated and is harder to use. KDE with custom themes is more modern, lightweight, and user-friendly.

We follow Debian Stable. You aren't going to get Plasma 6 with Debian 12/MX23. The dependencies won't work.

At least give us latest kernel 6.14 AHS

we aren't that kind of distro. I do zero testing against sid, and I'm not supporting it.

The reason we can backport Xfce releases is that the Xfce upstream devs make sure their releases work on gtk releases that are well established, IE, present on debian stable, and sometimes debian oldstable. The KDE team does not do that, so we get Qt version mismatches not just with KDE applications, but with other Qt applications as well (through the magic/hassle/blessing of shared libraries). The situation gets worse when going between major KDE versions. We would love to port it back, but it would take significant resources to do so, resources we do not have.

There was once efforts to port back KDE releases as they came, but even those only built against testing, not stable.

So maybe a long answer, but an honest one.

If you want to do this, you're on your own. MX won't be helping provide you with such an option.. If you're skillful enough to keep such a FrankenDebian going, you don't need us to give you the option. If you aren't skillful enough and break your system, well, you weren't supposed to do it in the first place.
