Hello Folks! Hello MX Linux Team!
I'm a long MX Linux user but for the first time on your forum as an active participant. I have a suggestion to add into MX Repository a very good and robust SlimJet Browser that I use for years. Every time when a new updated version is released I have to go on their website SlimJet.com to download last deb file and manually install it. Maybe it is possible to add it into Repository in order to have it updated together with other applications? SlimJet team don't provide any own Repo but files only. I don't know if they are interesting in that but I believe they will not be against it. What you think, guys?

Re: SlimJet Browser in MX Repo!
We used to have MXPI install the debs directly from Slimjet, much like it does for other proprietary browsers, but I don't know why it's gone.
@timkb4cq would be the expert on this, but I'm pretty sure our apt repo needs more files than just a .deb to host a package. You can see what I upload for a package like catfish, for example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qxg0_H ... sp=sharing

Re: SlimJet Browser in MX Repo!
so what's the selling point of Slimjet. its another chromium-based browser, like six others in the browser section of popular apps.

I'm adding it to mx-packageinstaller-popular apps. but I don't think it will auto-update. to update, users can run the popular apps routine again.

Re: SlimJet Browser in MX Repo!
Yes, since Slimjet won't provide an apt repo, you just have to manually reinstall it in MXPI to update. That's how we used to do it when it was in there.
And no need to remove it before the reinstall.

Re: SlimJet Browser in MX Repo!
Alright! Thank you all for your replies. I see that technically it's not easy to add this browser to the MX Repo.
I'll proceed doing it like before:
wget https://www.slimjetbrowser.com/release/ ... _amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install ./slimjet_amd64.deb
