Change of Plan: MX Moksha 23.6 Released!

#1 Post by AVLinux »

Hi, apologies for the public indecision... :bagoverhead:

To avoid further confusion:

"AV Linux" is MX+Enlightenment with a Liquorix kernel, extra system tweaks and custom utilities and a large selection of Audio and Video production applications and Plugins.
"MX Moksha" is MX+Bodhi Linux/Moksha with a Liquorix Kernel, extra system tweaks and custom utilities WITH NO Audio and Video production applications or Plugins... it is currently a base 'proof-of-concept' research project.

Having had a better look at the current precarious state of things with Debian Trixie as it pertains to Moksha and the MX build system and since I have a more or less 'finished product' I've decided just put MX-Moksha 23.6 up as-is. With the great backporting from MX and the constant updates to Moksha by the Bodhi Linux team this ISO is somewhat less exposed the the aging that normally would occur with a project released this late in a Debian Stable cycle so I think it should be a viable and useful release for a reasonably long time, at least easily until Trixie and MX-25 are released and the dust has settled on any new bugs..

CHANGELOG:

- Fix incorrect lsb-release formatting.
- New font and improved MX Moksha artwork.
- Better organized theme packages for both Moksha Green and optional Zenithal.
- New GRUB theme
- Added 'E-Modulus' Conky with it's own Editor (conky is set to not run by default, add it to system startup if you want it to use it)

Enjoy! Work will now commence on moving AV Linux and MX Moksha to Trixie when time allows..

Downloading...
Congratulations for the decision :number1: , I think it's completely right, possibly MX-25 has a long way to go until Debian Trixie is stable enough...
And it would be a pity that all your work would be so many months without seeing the light.

Best regards and good luck

@AVLinux precarious state of things? Could you explain? Well, I highly believe your decision to make this release was commendable since linux has seasonal upheavals when releasing major distro versions, so this release would give us a protection from the linux cycle storms and also if there are any bugs, it would be based on a final release not a RC release...

and I don't know if this is a bug or it is just how enlightenment/moksha works, is it now possible to use any picture from any folder as wallpaper?

"Precarious" meaning I can't just run a build script and get a fully functioning ISO on Trixie because Debian, MX and Moksha are all in a rapid state of change and there are numerous missing pieces right now.

As far as wallpaper it is not a bug, Enlightenment/Moksha have to convert any images you want to use as backgrounds to their own native 'edj' format. So you use Menu-->Settings-->Wallpaper

Then click the 'Picture" button and find the image file you want and click 'Use' to convert it to an edj file.
