MX Linux Quick-Start Guide

#1 Post by FullScale4Me »

This PDF document's intended use is as an alternative to detailed step-by-step guides. At the end are many helpful web-links that are included for more detailed instructions. For more guidance see MX Linux User Manual.

https://fullscale4me.com/MX-Linux-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf PDF 328 Kb 4 pages with multiple illustrations.

This is an April 2025 rewrite made to closely align to what is current advice in MX Linux and other distro's support forums.

Also, I would appreciate a sharp eye by those in the know to get the 'Create a bootable MX Linux USB' section ready for an upcoming reuse. Comments and/or corrections expected and appreciated. FWIW I am the author of this PDF.

Under Create a bootable MX Linux USB:
balena Etcher can be used on Windows, macOS, Linux (32/64 bit).

Under Xfce & Fluxbox WiFi
Enable WiFi is already checked for fluxbox users.

Nice work :number1:
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Regarding balena Etcher, please consider: [https://www.heise.de/en/news/ISO-writin ... 89100.html]. Using it "off-line" may avoid the "telemetry" problem.

Thanks siamhie!

RE: etcher - I tried two etcher install methods/versions. It installed, but didn't detect any USB drives. I'll try on another PC.

Was this for Linux? v2.1.0?

My bad. The etcher program will NOT let you select a drive first.

You have to select a file in 'Flash from file' BEFORE selecting the drive (target). PDF updated with lots of little edits!
