Reinstalling with MX-Snapshot Error Re: Wallpaper

Recently tried reinstalling MX XFCE with snapshot. Wallpaper is stuck on the default. Will not change with any of my own wallpapers or any of the system wallpapers. Have tried making personal as well as generic snapshots. Same thing occurs in all of them. Also noticed the wallpaper does not change on the flash drives being used.

When MX after installing with snapshot the wallpaper does not change when using a program such as Variety. (External wallpaper changer.)

In the end, I did a full reinstall with media from the the official website. And, again the problem persisted after I tried to make another snapshot.

At the moment, I have chosen to use Rescuezilla for any backups. The problem doesn't occur here.

We're going to have to see some log files and your OSI please. Users must always remember we have multiple supported releases at any time and there are unsupported respins out there too. We're really not that much into playing guessing games if you get my drift ;)

presuming mx23 with xfce 4.20

this is an issue with xfce 4.20, where the default wallpaper is hard coded at compile time. wallpapers are stored on a per-display, per workspace basis, and so they can get lost, even when defaults are saved in home folder, and new installs where the values don't match those that were saved.

we have left an out, primarily for respinners but it can apply here as well. you can copy whatever graphic you want to /usr/share/backgrounds/default23.png (extension important, even if not actually a png). this file will not be copied over during updates, and is the target for our implementation of xfce 4.20.

dophin_oracle, Yes. Mx23 with xfce 4.20. Apologies for not clarifying. And, thanks for sharing the "out" with the png.

m_pav, Sorry for not clarifying Mx23, xfce 4.20 from the 23.5 release from one of the official links from the website. I had used been a re-spin from senpai99 on Sourceforge released in October 2024. When I needed to use the snapshot for a reinstall a few days ago, I tried a more recent ISO from there. When the issue continued, I went to the 23.5 from one of the official links at the MX Linux website, not a respin..

The official installed fine. For some reason the reoccurring problem occurs when I try to make my own snapshot. The wallpaper cannot be changed on the snapshot. Nor can it be changed when installed on the hard drive,

Included the session error log from a recently made snapshot.

Issue is not exactly solved. Best that can be done in order to still use the Snapshot with full function of MX is to use another desktop other than Xfce. Presently using Cinnamon.

Then you should remove the solved mark from your post.

If there had been a work-around "check mark" would have used that instead.

As is, apparently there's a glitch with the xfce de and the snapshot causing the issue that doesn't seem to appear within at least either Mate of Cinnamon. *shrug*

i assume you placed the necessary xfce config changes [I don't know the exact file] in /etc/skel of your respin?

What respin? The issue was resolved only by using another desktop envirnment and removing xfce.
