Wi-Fi Problems Not Working 9_9

I bought a computer and monitor with a wifi adapter and it doesn't work

I bought 2 Wi-Fi adapters, none of them recognize the wifi in mx linux to connect to the network

Wifi does not recognize in mx linux :needcoffee:

I am waiting for the solution, I have already listed in the end lbusb, it appears but does not recognize the wifi

Adapter product 1:
Dual Band Usb Adapter model: AC1200 version: 802.11 ac Mu-MIMO Router

LBusb Terminal: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL88x2bu [AC1200 Techkey]

Adapter product 2:
Usb 2.0 Wireless 802.IIN

Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188FTV 802.11b/g/n 1T1R 2.4G WLAN Adapter

I am waiting for help :fox:

Thank you

Code: Select all

Device-2: Realtek RTL8188FTV 802.11b/g/n 1T1R 2.4G WLAN Adapter type: USB driver: N/A
    bus-ID: 2-1:2 chip-ID: 0bda:f179 class-ID: 0000 serial: <filter>
The key to getting any b/g/n card to work is to force it to use 'g' band, The driver will default to using 'n' because it is theoretically the fastest, however it is so affected by interference that it will often fail to complete the handshake and not connect at all.

If your router is 2,4 GHz capable, do this:
1) right click on the wireless icon in the panel
2) select Edit Connections
3) double click on your SSID
4) under the Wireless tab, change Band from Automatic to b/g
5) close everything out, log out / in and see if if you now can connect

Alternatively, you could access your router and configure the 2.4 GHz network to only use 'g' which will have the same effect as above.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Okay, I'll try, check the 2.4 Ghz band on the router :crossfingers:

I'll come back here later and let you know

Thanks

I checked that the 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi signal is enabled on the router and I am connected to the notebook normally.

The problem is with the Cpu that I set up for other resources and it does not recognize the router adapter. In MX Linux, the signal does not appear.

You missed the key part. You have to force the router to broadcast in 'g' only or configure your WiFi card (using the steps I listed in post #4) to only use 'g'. In lab conditions wireless 'n' works flawlessly, but in the real world it;s useless.

Okay, I'll check the router and turn off 5G.
Leave only 2.4GHz and restart the computer and test.

I think that you have misunderstood my intent. You don't disable the 5 GHz network. You instead need to configure the 2.4 GHz network to only use the 'g' protocol. Note: on some modern routers, when you manually set the protocol you will only be given the choice of 'n' or 'b/g'. In that case choose 'b/g' because 'b' is so ancient and slow that it never will be used.

Yes, it could be. I was basing my advice on the onboard device he originally said he could not get working before he purchased the two usb cards. But I also could be confused. I recently had major dental surgery and the pain meds may be clouding my judgement. For that reason, I'm going to back off for a while or at least until the prescription is finished in a couple of days.

At the beginning of the distro installation, before updating, it worked, but after updating the system it stopped working.

I think the problem is in the kernel update, and not in the modem.

After updating the MX Linux, all the WiFi adapters stopped working.

I bought the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz dual band adapters, both work, and the 802.IN adapter works at 2.4 GHz.

I'm going to look for this in the modem, but I think the problem is in the kernel. The update stopped working and doesn't recognize the WiFi. :fox:
