Mouse No Longer Working  [Solved]

Help for Current Versions of MX
When asking for help, use Quick System Info from MX Tools. It will be properly formatted using the following steps.
1. Click on Quick System Info in MX Tools
2. Right click in your post and paste.

Mouse No Longer Working

I am using MX Linux 21.3, 64-bit.
My mouse has stopped working. (Logitech M325, wireless)
This happened after I was experimenting and moved the slide (turned it off) that is located to the right of Settings -> Mouse and Touchpad -> Devices tab -> Device pulldown menu.
After I did that, the mouse froze.
I have rebooted and the mouse works up to and including the login screen. After that the mouse freezes.
I have switched to a corded mouse and it works just fine...
Hope that somebody knows how to fix this issue.

Replace the battery in the wireless mouse.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Unfortunately, that's not the solution! If it were the battery, I would also have problems with the login screen...

When AA batteries are on the way out, they can still have enough residual power to last through the log in screen, but then die by the time the desktop launches. If a new battery doesn't fix the problem, consider the mouse dead. The M325 mice can only be dropped on the floor so many times before they give up the ghost. I know, I have a cat.

Does it work for another user if you create and log in as them?
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

Either do the reverse using the working mouse (select the other one from dropdown and turn it on)

or just delete this file and reboot (mouse settings will revert to defaults):

Hi. I inserted a brand-new battery but the mouse still freezes after the login screen. But that's the weird part. It works up to and including the login screen and after the OS GUI has loaded it freezes. I must have done the damage when I moved the slide that I was talking about to the off position.

OK, This is pretty simple. I'm running KDE, but brought up the XFCE settings manager.

That slider disables the device shown in the Devices pulldown. Using the corded mouse, select the wireless mouse device and move the slider back to the "On" position (lights up to some color other than grey).

Would these be the correct commands to create another user? (Let's say that the new username is jane)

$ sudo useradd jane
$ sudo passwd jane

How would I delete jane once I have tested the result?
