MX Flatflex Respin

#1 Post by vel178 »

Idea of this spin was to use flatpaks instead of the debian repos as application base while keeping somewhat close to the source. Desktop interface and base image was mx xfce ahs.

Applications may still subject to changes, depending on feedback.

Hi,

Congrats on your Respin!

While I completely understand supplementing certain programs that MX doesn't currently maintain (I do the same thing but not with Flatpaks). I don't really understand why FP versions of the things MX does maintain at current releases is preferable...? Same program versions with all that unnecessary Flatpak bulk?

Get updates on apps faster, potential, while the base relies on debian stability. It's more a personal testbed to dive deeper into a distribution. I didn't expect people to use it intentionaly.

Squished some ram hogs. Not much but I'm happy with that.

Proud release of version 2. Consider this now primetime worthy will all the final janks sorted out.

Rebuild using ahs stack now featuring kernel 6.12 for newer hardware.
Solve style issue thanks to fellow forum member, now looks the part with a proper wallpaper and pinned apps on the panel.

Good stuff!

*Free hint* If you want to customize outside of DE configs (ie lightdm, grub and other defaults) the files that control that stuff in Snapshot are located in /usr/local/share/live-files/ Just make sure you back up the originals before trying modifications..
