no audio in systemd mode, MX23.5

Need to boot into systemd mode for using snap packages
Sound output shows Dummy
Oddly sysinfo shows
server 1 as Jack
server 2 pipewire
server 3 pusleaudio

Ideas who to get audio back?

Not sure if this will help but I had to switch to a liquorix 6x kernels to get mine to work right. I'm using kernel 6.4.15-2-liquorix. Sometimes that's all it takes is playing with different kernels. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than I can help you better but I'm just speaking from personal experience. Also, I had no idea you could use Snaps on MX Linux. I thought that was an Ubuntu thing.

jack server seems to have started, i can stop JACK but hope to have pulse as #1 server

Hi,

Odd to have both PulseAudio and PipeWire on there.. Have you got 'pipewire-setup-mx' installed? That will give you a correctly set up PipeWire on MX-23 and will remove uneeded PulseAudio, if you need JACK you can use 'pipewire-jack'

On a properly set up PipeWire system there is no need for PulseAudio or JACK, PipeWire is a drop-in replacement for both.

you will get a dummy output for a variety of reasons, but the easiest is multiple sound servers trying to run simulataneously. even multiple instances of wireplumber alone will do it.

under systemd, the pipewire stuff is started up by a user level systemd service. I don't know what pulse and jack are expected to start up, but if trying to manually launch one of those other sound servers, maybe even especially jack, while pipewire/wireplumber is running could cause issues. maybe one of the other servers is taking control, and wireplumber can't do its thing, which is manage connections.

I think the setup needs to be either pipewire with its' pipeware-jack and pipewire-pulse plugins, or pulseaudio/jack, not both.
