MX 23.5.1 ?

#1 Post by /df »

About to build one or more laptops with MX Xfce as the main OS. Should I be waiting for a 23.5.1 update given this

>Well the 23.5 rollout was not quite as smooth as we would have liked, ...

or will 23.5 remain as-is for now?

@MX_GRD
Your last published QSI was from Nov 2023. Please give us the current one.

Reason: typo
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

The KDE version isn't going to have any XFCE 4.20 issues...
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

MX-18; still works good without updates. I tried using live MX-23, but ran into BIOS issues and current partition; I had setup an sda5 ext4 extension partition and a little leery about losing it, sda1 ext4 for root, sda4 swap.
Also, MX-23 kept asking for partition password; passwords used on MX-18 was rejected.

I'm not planning any new isos. the main issue appears to be with upgrade-in-place, not fresh installs. but in any case, if you install updates before installing, you would be covered either way.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
