Fail to Mount

#1 Post by mattdebauge »

When I plugged in USB drive and it was supposed to mount and load window automatically but it didn't. I clicked on Thunar and clicked the drive, it popped up "Fail to Mount xxx" "Not Authorized to perform operation". I got puzzled about it. It was working perfectly fine before and I think recent update had bug. I did on other system and installed MX. It work fine until I updated it, afterward, it's not working anymore. Same result. Are you aware of that?

Thanks
Matt

I take it the USB drive that is not auto-mounting you're referring to is this one?

Code: Select all

  ID-2: /dev/sdb maj-min: 8:16 type: USB vendor: SanDisk model: Ultra size: 14.91 GiB block-size:
    physical: 512 B logical: 512 B type: N/A serial: <filter> rev: 1.26 scheme: MBR
SMART Message: Unknown USB bridge. Flash drive/Unsupported enclosure?
Have you tried running a check on it using Gparted ?

:soapbox:
I have made no secret of the fact I have no love of Sandisk Ultra series flash drives. My tests repeated multiple times over many years (in the hope they will get better) of these controller-less drives have shown them to be underwhelming in all aspects of their operations and reliably unreliable.

Every time I get a customer come to me with one of those things, I cringe, knowing what to expect from it. I personally think they make a fantastic cushion between a Hammer in full flight and an Anvil at a metal forge :killcomputer:

I decided to reinstall MX Linux and it solved the problem. I think it have lot to do with MX Snapshot that I was using to install new system and noted problems I was having with Thunar. Think problem solved Thanks
