Forum Dark Mode

#1 Post by JesusLinux »

Hello folks,

Just my opinion here.
The MX Forum looks like it stayed on 2001.
I mean it is super confusing and dear God on mobile devices it's even worse.
To be honest it's ugly.
I have used (and still use some) Manjaro, Zorin (IMO are the best looking) Linux Mint (also stayed on 2001) forums.
I see forums from other distros like Endeavour, openSUSE, Solus, Cachy OS etc and they all have the same base (I guess is Discourse forum software?).
They all lo great on all devices.
And most of all they have Dark Mode option...

Question:
Has anyone responsible ever considered changing the forum layout base to make it more modern?
I mean the forums I mentioned are feature pack and super intuitive to use and are great for mobile devices.

I get lost in this forum (same thing on Linux Mint). Have to circle around to find easy stuff.
And no Dark Mode... it hurts my eyes lol.

I always use dark mode in EVERYTHING when available.

I'd just use an extention like "Dark Background and Light Text" for a Mozilla based browser, or something similar from the chrome store for chrome based browsers

Your question is better directed here as that is the software used. https://www.phpbb.com/
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Then you should probably invest in some computer glasses:
https://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/ergonom ... asses.html
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

If you use Firefox, you can set Colors to always override, then set this website to be what ever color you want. (including 'dark mode')

I am sure other browsers have this ability too, and you can set to your desired colors.
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

For example Vivaldi

Yep lots of them and they never end with providing a dark theme.
