package request - MX-23: activity-log-manager
Hello
Please add the activity-log-manager package to the repo.
What do I need it for?
If I copy something from a Flatpak programme to the clipboard and then close the Flatpak programme, the clipboard is also deleted immediately. However, I would like the clipboard not to be deleted in this case. The clipboard diodon fulfils this wish. That is why I have installed Diodon.
But now I also want Diodon to prevent passwords that I copy from the Enpass password manager to the clipboard from ending up in the diodon history. I can fix this in the following ways:
1. install activity-log-manager (sudo apt install activity-log-manager)
2. add the application you want to exclude to the exclude list in Files & Applications.
Unfortunately the package activity-log-manager is not in the repo. And so I cannot activate this function.
Can you please add it.
Thank you.

I would be shocked if this comes in. Activity-log-manager has been non maintained for a very long time.

Re: package request - MX-23: activity-log-manager
Ubuntu has a newer release, but still 2013.
I think copyQ can retain clipboard items even after the source is removed, maybe ZG won't log them. I see diodon uses ZG.

Activity Log Manager is a graphical user interface which lets you easily control what gets logged by Zeitgeist.

Re: package request - MX-23: activity-log-manager
Thank you all.
There are very new versions:
https://launchpad.net/activity-log-manager/+packages
1. Clipboard should not be deleted after I close a flatpak programme
2. Passwords, copied from passwordmanager "Enpass" should not be hold in the clipboard history.
– Clipman supports neither feature 1 nor feature 2
– diodon supports feature 1 and together with "activity-log-manager" also feature 2
– copyQ supports not feature 1, but it supports feature 2
So the only clipboard, that suits my demands is didion. But only if I can install "activity-log-manager"

Re: package request - MX-23: activity-log-manager
That version of a-l-m dates back to 2013...Ubuntu just keeps adding it to every new release.
What desktop are you using? I have KDE, and the Organic Maps flatpak, and copyQ does not forget some data I copied off it and then closed the mapplication. i.e. pasted right here...
32.774452, -117.0453526
Mount Helix Hospital
I hope you didn't install a copyQ flatpak...

Thank you. I was not aware of this.Stevo wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 10:16 am That version of a-l-m dates back to 2013...Ubuntu just keeps adding it to every new release.
Xfce 4.18.1 together with Flatpak FreeTube. And yes, copyQ (not the flatpak version) does not keep the content in the clipboard, when FreeTube is closed.Stevo wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 10:16 am What desktop are you using? Re: package request - MX-23: activity-log-manager
Possibly downloading and installing the Freetube 0.22.1 deb or appimage from their home page would be a better choice, then?
I ran the appImage, searched for MX Linux videos, copied a link, closed the appImage, and I still have the link at the top. https://youtu.be/SE8uRUOoLSI (whoops, had clibgrab intercepting that link like it's supposed to
)
Are you saying you see the copied stuff at the top of copyQ's stack, then you can see it vanish as the app is closed? Because I can not reproduce that.

Re: package request - MX-23: activity-log-manager
Thank you.
Maybe it's not compatible with MX-23? Is it?
----------------
I have tried out now FreeTube Appimage together with copyq:
Result: It does delete the clipboard if I close copyQ. Of course it ist still in the history of copyQ and I can insert it from the history of copyQ. But the clipboard is empty:
Here is how it is in copyQ:
0. open Featherpad
1. open FreeTube and select text
2. press Ctrl+c
3. close FreeTube
4. press Ctrl+v
-> Result: It does not bring the text into Featherpad, because the clipboard is empty.
Here is how it works with diodon:
0. open Featherpad
1. open FreeTube and select text
2. press Ctrl+c
3. close FreeTube
4. press Ctrl+v
-> Result: No I have the text in Featherpad. That's what I want to have. It should work the same way as other programmes that are not flatpacks work.
You mean, it's no problem to install the deb?

That's true it remains in the history. But that's not the point.Stevo wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 9:27 pm I ran the appImage, searched for MX Linux videos, copied a link, closed the appImage, and I still have the link at the top.

Re: package request - MX-23: activity-log-manager
Why? Security concerns? Or would it destroy the system?dolphin_oracle wrote: Sun Dec 15, 2024 8:32 pm I would be shocked if this comes in. Activity-log-manager has been non maintained for a very long time.
