ACPI boot error - Solved

I have an old desktop that serves as my digital assistant, communications device and media centre. Recently it's started hanging on boot with a number of ACPI error messages; I have to enter ctrl-D to finish the boot process. The mother board is an Asus P8H61 PRO, with BIOS v: 4205 (most recent available).

I can boot into Mint, which is on the same SSD, without this issue. I can also boot into Fedora from an external SSD.

Please can anyone explain what the problem might be and how I can solve it?

loglevel=3

in kernel parameters box in "MX Boot Options".

			All Kernel Messages with a loglevel smaller than the
			console loglevel will be printed to the console. It can
			also be changed with klogd or other programs. The
			loglevels are defined as follows:

			0 (KERN_EMERG)		system is unusable
			1 (KERN_ALERT)		action must be taken immediately
			2 (KERN_CRIT)		critical conditions
			3 (KERN_ERR)		error conditions
			4 (KERN_WARNING)	warning conditions
			5 (KERN_NOTICE)		normal but significant condition
			6 (KERN_INFO)		informational
			7 (KERN_DEBUG)		debug-level messages

i.e. loglevel=0 will print emergency messages only (when system is about to crash or is unstable).

In fact quiet is the equivalent of loglevel=4 that's why the system lets the "warning" messages be printed. By the way, no matter you use loglevel 3 or less they're still recorded in log files (in case one needs to search/inquire something). You can also change the splash to nosplash if you prefer the flowing text (like me) but you don't have to.

NOTE
Just as the message says, you can always try executing systemctl default or use the Ctrl + D keyboard combination to attempt booting into “default mode” (and avoid emergency mode). However, this is only a temporary solution that will get you into your operating system, but does not clear the error message from occurring on future system boots.

I modified the grub boot options as you suggested. Analysis of the resulting log file flagged the problem. I had plugged an external disk and set it to mount automatically on boot. Having then forgotten this change and removed the disk, boot stopped and flagged that the disk could not be checked as not found.
I removed the entry in fstab and the problem is solved.
