Dolphin drag and drop with multiple files doesn´t work

#1 Post by noesnada »

I've just searched the KDE part of this forum for "dolphin drag drop" and did not see any results, so.

I've noticed for a while that I am no longer able to drag and drop multiple files into nextcloud, or folders. This used to be possible.

I'm on MX KDE and like dolphin so that's what I always use.

Tonight I had the same thing happen to me when trying to drag 5 jpgs into a Thunderbird email. That's never happened before.

So I did some searching and apparently there is a bug with dolphin that causes exactly this problem.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490366

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1908196

I just installed Thunar and tried dragging and dropping multiple files, and also multiple folders, into nextcloud, and multiple jpgs into Thunderbird, and it worked great, just like it always used to with dolphin.

Any known way around this bug?

I have not uploaded my system info as it sounds like all that is relevant here is that you are using dolphin on KDE Plasma.

By the way it's no big problem if there is not a fix. I just wondered if there was something I could do to fix it.

Please post your QSI ( MX Menu | Quick System Info | Copy for Forum | paste here )
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.

I can reproduce the issue in KDE with Dolphin; dropping multiple files into wormhole.app in FF, only the first one is uploaded.

Dropping from Thunar, or from Dolphin into the same page on the Pale Moon browser, sends all the files.

Can anyone check this on XFCE if they run Dolphin there?

The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

Confirmed. (XFCE ) I selected 3 files, drug all three into pcloud and only one went - the one my cursor started on for the drag N Drop

edit: That was dragging into FireFox logged into pcloud.

And this does appear to be a FireFox issue. Doing the exact same thing in Brave to Pcloud works perfectly.

It happens to me with Brave also, although my brave is flatpak. My firefox is straight from the mx repositories. So I don't know if there's a file access issue with brave, but I used to use this method from dolphin to brave flatpak without any problem.

Using Thunar instead was a 100% fix.

From what I've read it's Dolphin that's the problem and KDE will need to fix it. It's not an MX issue at all.

That's normal. Drag a bunch and only one goes.

But it's inconsistent.

Sometimes I'll drag multiple files to Nextcloud, and all go, but what uploads are empty files. Jpgs with 0kb file sizes.

Not normal for me using Thunar and FF .. I drag multiples and multiples go over. And since Dolphin in Brave work perfectly too... Def something in that Dolphin / FF connection is awry * least in XFCE )
