Raspberry Pi 4B

Two issues, really.

First, it doesn't want to obey the "screen off" = "never" or other power management settings. I don't want it to sleep/hibernate, but it does anyway. It doesn't wake up, I have to restart the Pi.

Which isn't that big of a deal compared to the installation not booting after about 5-6 restarts. It boots normally, runs normally, after install I make a few changes like installing firefox and to the UI skin, but that's about it.

After few restarts it powers on, the Pi activity light blinks, the Pi rainbow/boot screen shows, then the screen goes dark. No keypresses will reveal any loading scroll. The keyboard "works" as in pressing numlock will alternate the numlock light, but that's it. Activity light stops after about 20 seconds, keyboard dead. No boot. Power off/on still has the same results.

Reinstall MXLinux on the SD card, and everything works fine again, until it doesn't.

Any ideas?

1) Blanking--if that's what you're describing--is set in Power Manager; details in the RPi-Tips document linked on the desktop and IIRC in the Menu.

2) Since we've not heard this sort of report to my recollection, my first question would be: are you using a new and high-quality microSD such as Samsung or now the RPi ones?

New, out of the package, SD Ultra XC card.

I don't know if it's blanking or standby, it takes a second or two to come alive - when it works.

As a tip check the SD as there are many fakes and less quality cards around ! had recent a friend how had a 1 TB sony ,i got suspicious as no "made in" was printed, rest 100% equal. After testing with f3 program it was a 4 GB SD. f3 is your friend to test any SD,do remember that it will blank the card.

P.S. I use MX rpi on pi 4 and pi 5 and do not have that problem.

Card checks good. No issues.
