Softmaker Office (Textmaker etc.) in its original state apparently cannot access network shares. In a forum post, the Softmaker team writes that it can only access files ‘if they are available in the file system. This means that network shares are not available via Samba for the time being.’
However, network shares can be mounted to a local folder, in which case they are also available in Softmaker Office.
Unfortunately, the computer freezes if the network share is not available when the file dialogue is opened. Therefore, according to Softmaker's tip, you could, for example, create two scripts on the desktop, ‘one that mounts, one that unmounts’.
Question: what should the scripts be?
More details on this, including the file dialogues in Gnome and KDE and why there is a problem for Softmaker Office, in these two forum posts: here and here . (German)

I don't have a "network share" as such but something similar, dings wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 2:30 am Softmaker Office (Textmaker etc.) in its original state apparently cannot access network shares. which is an smb://path to a directory on the local fritz.box,
which offer besides ftp also smb-access.
After having "connected" to the smb-path, the gvfsd provides files system access to a kind of "mountpoint.
Here visible in Thunar splitview, with two identical access pathes:
On the left the smb-share :
smb://fritz.box/fritz.nas/My_Documents/ On the right the "mount-type" of access:
/run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=fritz.box,share=fritz.nas/My_Documents/ Both directories show the identical content.
So maybe access your connected shares through you'r local gvfs-path under
/run/user/1000/gvfs/
where 1000 is the user User-ID.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Softmaker Office (Textmaker etc.): accessing network shares
Hello,
I'M currently struggling with the same difficulties
I'm using strawberry as an alternative to MediaMonkey,
But strawberry only "sees" local folders, so I have to somehow make "local" all my NAS' folders
I don't know how I managed to get one /home/sophie/user@NAS/Multimedia/Music/strawberry but I have this one
Now strawberry is able to read the content of this one, but all my music in upper path (i.e: /Multimedia/Music is not accessible)
I can access the NAS GUI via browser (no connection issue)
I can browse the NAS folder via Daulphin,
How can I create a permanent access to my NAS all folders ? (so strawberry can access it)
I found Smb4k in the MX23 menu, but it doesn't browse the NAS :(
