Hello, everyone.
I've been giving Zen a test drive these past few weeks and I gotta say it looks very promising.
The only gripe I have so far is that I whenever I hover the mouse pointer over a link, it doesn't turn into a "hand" but rather stays an arrow.
I got it installed via Flatpak because only in this way can I get it updated. Is it a glitch of the app or a misinstalled package?
Many thanks in advance.
Zen browser
Re: Zen browser
I have the appimage version from ivanhc's github. Updates with a simple <am -u>, Installed it with <am -i zen-browser>.
Unfortunately like every FF clone it is google centric and immediately wants to contact mozilla the moment you open it. I only open it if I must and then close it and forget about it when I'm done. I'm sick and tired of tweaking every next ff clone to make them actually private and secure. None of them are worth my time. I also installed the ungoogled-chromium appimage but this time have not even opened it yet. No need. Firedragon, an "Unofficial, Web Browser fork of Librewolf, from Garuda Linux", another appimage, was fun to play with but again, I tire of constantly tweaking FF just to get it to basically mind it's own business. You should check Firedragon. It's got a great looking interface. Flathub I want nothing to do with.
As for updates, some aps have built-in updaters (what browser doesn't really?) and therefore whoever may distribute it will more than likely leave it up to the ap itself. IvanHC says exactly that in his am package manager terminal window. I like appimages and ivanhc's am mgr does a great job of accessing them in a single terminal window. Flathub is bloatware made complicated.
